Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched last week’s episode of Power, stop reading now.

At the end of last week’s episode, Tommy and Cash return home after shopping for an engagement ring for LaKeisha. Tommy gets ready to go inside and propose to LaKeisha. He notices something is off as he approaches the door and tells Cash to stay in the car. Cash is confused but heads back to the car. Tommy enters the house and discovers LaKeisha’s dead body on the floor. He begins to break down beside the body as the engagement ring falls out of his hands and tumbles to the floor. The screen fades to black and ‘Home’ continues through the end credits.

As Power builds toward the big series finale, music supervisor Jen Ross has been busy finding the perfect tracks to underscore the dramatic moments we’ve seen so far. Many of them have jumped straight to the top of Tunefind’s trending music chart (Frey Ridings’ haunting ‘Lost Without You’ and R.A.N. by Miguel), so it was no surprise when this latest episode closed out with a song that resonated so strongly with fans.

“In what has been an epic season of intense storytelling, it was key to find the right song that could support the emotional depth of this scene as we not only are saying goodbye to LaKeisha, but in that moment Tommy realizes she has been killed and all hope of any happiness becomes lost,” Ross shared with Tunefind. “‘Home’ truly was a great marriage as it powerfully supported the layers upon layers of tragedy being played out on the screen.”

The musical duo Solomon Grey, made up of Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson, released ‘Home’ on January 31, 2019 with Mercury KX, a division of Decca Music Group Limited.

Kingston and Wilson met in Oxford, England and bonded over music. They moved to the West Coast of Ireland and started making music as Solomon Grey. The duo then moved their studio to Australia and spent two years honing their sound. They returned to the U.K. in early 2013, releasing their debut single ‘Gen V’ on the label Black Butter. Solomon Grey quickly became known for their distinct mix of contemporary production with classical composition.

Solomen Grey’s soundscape blurs the lines between live instrumentation and programming. They draw influences from James Murphy and Little Dragon. The duo has a cinematic sound provoking visceral reactions and feelings. The classically-trained friends are able to capture small moments of emotion that are truly powerful.

Solomon Grey have been playing in the world of music and media for several years now. At the beginning of 2014, the duo wrote the soundtrack for a Tourism Ireland project called The Wild Atlantic Way. In 2015, Solomon Grey would score the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy for BBC/HBO. Making their way in the world of television score composition, the duo released their Selected Works, a compilation of their music up to this point before composing BBC One’s The Last Post in 2017. Following their score success, the band released their sophomore album Human Music in 2018. There are sonic similarities between The Last Post score and the tracks from Human Music, using the same 22-piece Hungary-based orchestra and a vintage CS-80 synthesizer.

Most recently, Solomon Grey scored the soundtrack for BBC Three’s series Back To Life

On their Spotify profile, Tom Kingston said, “The crossover between our own songs and our soundtracks has always been there but it’s shifted slightly.” Tom continues, “Writing for soundtracks has blown the doors open for us. It has removed the usual boundaries of being in a band. As musicians, we feel like we’ve come full circle, only the circle has become a lot bigger.”

The duo took to Twitter after their sync placement on Power after the outpouring of affection from fans,
