Last week’s most popular song on Tunefind is an anthemic folk song featured in ABC’s long-running series, Grey’s Anatomy. This top TV song is a collaboration between singer/songwriter Raye Zaragoza and music producer/songwriter Viv Parker.
‘Lost With You’ begins while Teddy sits with Owen in his hospital room before the scene transitions to Dr. Marsh with his patient’s mom. The chorus picks up with confident and emotive vocals as Amelia walks out of the hospital and sits with Kai. The song quiets and slows for a moment as Jo walks in on Linc in the shower before the chorus finishes strong.
“Working on this episode was my first time hearing Raye. I love her voice,” shared Grey’s Anatomy Music Supervisor Kasey Truman. She continued, “We searched high and low for the perfect song for this scene, and this one hit all the beats.”
‘Lost With You’ was released as a single on March 9th with Raye Zaragoza’s record label, Rebel River Records. “This song is about losing yourself and feeling found.. all at the same time,” New York-native singer/songwriter Raye Zaragoza shared the meaning of this track along with an official ‘Lost With You’ music video on YouTube.
An American singer/songwriter, Raye Zaragoza was born and raised in Manhattan, New York, NY. Zaragoza started playing guitar at age twelve, moved to Los Angeles at the age of fourteen, and began writing songs in her late teens. Her music influences include Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Joan Baez, and Buffy St. Marie.
Raye Zaragoza is an artist making tenacious anthems and “protest folk”. “Music to fight for, represent, and celebrate those left too long outside the spotlight,” is Zaragoza’s motivation for songwriting. Zaragoza has released numerous singles and EPs since 2016. In 2017 she released her debut album Fight For You, covering topics related to social justice and her experience as a woman of color. She released her second album Woman in Color in 2020.
LA-based music producer/songwriter Viv Parker was born in Paris, France. His father was a professional drummer and his mother was a band manager. Parker was raised around musicians in recording studios and backstage on tours. He started playing guitar at age eight and playing in bands at age sixteen. He moved to LA to work as a session guitarist at age nineteen and began writing and singing his own songs at age twenty-two.
Parker describes his sound as “eclectic, modern rock and pop mixed in with vintage classic sounds” and is influenced by a wide-range of artists from Led Zeppelin to David Bowie to Bob Marley. Viv Parker released two singles in 2020 and has released an EP and two more singles as his artist project, Viv and the Revival, with Republic Records.
Both artists took to Instagram to share their reactions to the Grey’s placement and sent a “huge thanks to @drhigz and @secretroad for making this placement happen”. “A couple months ago, I met producer @vivparkermusic and in our first session together we wrote a song called ‘Lost With You’,” Zaragoza’s Instagram explained. The caption continued, “This song made me feel so free when singing it, and I had a feeling this was a special tune. I had just come out of a stretch of feeling pretty stuck in my music, and this song felt like a really fun jump outside of my usual sound. Flash forward a couple weeks, we hear that “Lost With You” is going to be featured of @greysabc !!”
This is Viv Parker’s first placement on Tunefind but his artist project Viv and the Revival has had songs placed in multiple episodes of ABC Network’s The Catch, Netflix’s series Daybreak, The CW’s The Flash, and many features in MTV’s Teen Mom: Young + Pregnant and Teen Mom OG. Parker has also had numerous commercial advertising placements.
