Top TV Song Last Week: Whiplash by The Night Lands
ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy takes the top spot on Tunefind’s trending chart last week, for the third week in a row. Grey’s Anatomy will often dominate the Tunefind charts while it is airing, and last week was no exception with 5 out of the 10 spots being claimed by songs featured in the latest season of Grey’s Anatomy. Last week’s top TV song comes from the alter ego artist project of a musician that is no stranger to Grey’s Anatomy.
‘Whiplash’ is heard over the classic end montage that Grey’s Anatomy has spent over 19 seasons mastering. Meredith Grey narrates the story while viewers are shown the core Grey’s Anatomy characters. The songs soulful sound carries the audience along while showing current couplings and Meredith vocalizes the many scientific benefits associated with intimate connections.

“When I first heard the song in the scene, it fit so perfectly over the scenes of our characters connecting it was almost as if it had been written specifically for the sequence. Kamps explains that, “The Night Lands is the alter ego, artist project for Davis Naish who you heard in the Season 19 premiere as well with the song ‘Ripples’.”
‘Whiplash’ was released as a single on October 20, 2022 by The Night Lands. As Grey’s music supervisor, Justin Kamps explained above, The Night Lands is the alter ego project of Nashville-native Davis Naish. Naish is a songwriter and producer currently located in Los Angeles, CA. Naish was raised in a musical home, learning the art of production and how songs developed into records from his father, producer Phil Naish.

Davis Naish shared the following with Tunefind, “’Whiplash’ came from the first sign of light after the pandemic. We, as a society, had spent years separated from each other and gone through unimaginable lows and losses.” Naish continued, “’Whiplash’ is the narrative of my own valley and a cautionary message of coming back into full speed.” In 2021, Davis joined The Stable Music/Kobalt. Naish is producing and writing across several genres including pop, country, and sync. His recent collaborations include artists like Joshua Bassett, Eric Church, and Forest Blakk.
