Shrinking premiered on Apple TV+ on January 27, 2023, and has received praise from critics and audiences. The dramedy series follows therapist Jimmy Laird (played by Jason Segal) as he deals with severe grief and begins breaching ethical barriers with his patients. The series has been popular amongst Tunefind fans as it displays a melodic, indie soundscape. Last week’s episode clenched the number 1 spot on Tunefind’s trending chart with a subtle and refreshing placement by a UK-based producer/singer/songwriter/DJ.

‘Dermot (see yourself in my eyes)’ is heard near the end of the 9th episode, “Moving Forward.” Jimmy’s daughter Alice (played by Lukita Maxwell) enters his room, wanting to play him a song. Jimmy excitedly declares that “listening parties are back!” as Alice plays the song on her phone. There’s a moment of peace on screen as the characters enjoy the music and each other’s company. The song picks up in volume again as the end credits roll.
Frederick Gibson is a British record producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ. Gibson is professionally known as Fred Again or simply Fred (stylized as FRED). Frederick was born in Balham, South London.
Gibson has been working as a songwriter and producer steadily since 2018. He has worked with artists such as George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Demi Lovato, Rita Ora, and Ed Sheeran. In 2020, Gibson won Producer of the Year at the Brit Awards and was noted for being the youngest producer ever to win the title. In a TikTok stitch on January 31, 2023, Fred confirmed that his name Fred Again.. came from a line in the live-action movie Scooby-Doo where Fred, in the voice of Daphne, says, “I’m Fred Again..”
In 2019, Gibson began a project titled Actual Life, where he collects samples from various sources – such as voice memos, social media clips, and other artists’ music – and incorporates them into original tracks. Gibson released the first of these albums, Actual Life (April 14 – December 17 2020), in April 2021, which he described as a “collaborative diary” reflecting his life experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Dermot (see yourself in my eyes)’ is the third track on the album and currently boasts over 17 million streams on Spotify. Irish singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy is a featured artist on the track, and is credited for the sample of his song ‘Lost‘ in ‘Dermot (see yourself in my eyes)’.
